SALTI News Releases: Lawyers Title to Commonwealth Title
This site was designed to provide you with news about Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation (LTIC) our insurer. On July 1, 2010 Lawyers Title will begin the process of merging into Commonwealth Land Title Company in a resturcturing of the title companies of Fidelity National Financial. Upon the competition of the merger Lawyers Title will no longer exist. Below are the news comments about Lawyers Title being owned by LandAmerica, the bankruptcy of LandAmerica and subsequent purchase by FNF.

SALTI has enjoyed a strong relationship with LTIC since our creation in 2005. LTIC has been recognized as a leader of title insurance in North Carolina for decades. Some time ago LTIC was bought buy LandAmerica. In November 2008 LandAm filed for bankruptcy. Under the bankruptcy, LTIC was sold to Fidelity National Financial(FNF) on December 22, 2008. LTIC is no longer involved with LandAm or its bankruptcy. The Department of Insurance of Nebraska placed LTIC in rehabilitation during the bankrutpcy but by judicial order it has been released. Below are press releases and other notices. Thoses listed in red are the purchase of LTIC by FNF and the release of rehabilitation in Nebraska.
BE ASSURED THAT LTIC IS FINANCIALLY STRONG WITH ADEQUATE RESERVES IN NORTH CAROLINA. DURING THE TRANSTITION LTIC WAS BACKED BY AND NOW IS A PART OF FIDELITY NATIONAL TITLE GROUP FOR ALL COMMITMENTS, CLOSING PROTECTION LETTERS AND POLICIES.
